Graduation Procedure and Forms
Mount St. Mary's awards degrees three times during the academic year: September, December and May. The commencement ceremony is held in May. Students who graduate in September or December have the option of participating in the May ceremony.
To begin the graduation process, all students must submit an Intent to Graduate form. This form provides the Registrar's Office with accurate student information and allows us to review each student's academic records to determine eligibility to graduate. The review also provides each student with an opportunity to complete any degree requirements they may have overlooked during their time at the Mount.
The Intent to Graduate form is available online. The form must be submitted by the appropriate deadline listed below. Students who do not submit the form by the deadline are not eligible to graduate until the following graduation date.
All students are invited to participate in the May commencement ceremony, though all of the following requirements must be met to earn your diploma:
Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 99 credits at the end of the fall term to be eligible to participate in the Commencement ceremony the following May. You may not participate in Commencement exercises if you do not meet this requirement.
Students must complete all graduation requirements (completed courses, forms, etc.) by June 30 of their graduating year. If you do not meet this condition, your degree will be conferred following the completion of the requirements.
All financial obligations to the University must be settled. If you do not meet this condition, your diploma will be held until your account balance is fully paid.
Please note that all diplomas will be sent by certified mail (requires signature) to the address on your intent to graduate form unless otherwise specified.
