Summer Class Attendance
Because of the compressed format of these sessions, every scheduled class is required. Do not plan to miss any classes for summer vacation or other personal events.

Internships
Internships are hands-on experiences that relate to a specific major or career interest and usually involve training and responsibilities for which the student has already completed appropriate academic coursework. An internship may be full time or part time for the duration of a semester or summer. Internships are often non-paid although a stipend or pay may be provided by some organizations. Mount St. Mary’s offers support for credit-based internship as well as non-credit based internships. Internships for both non-credit and credit are open to all majors.

The goal of Mount St. Mary’s University’s internship program is to provide students with a valuable experience as well as the ability to gain marketable skills for their field of interest. Internships provide a “free try” at a career – enabling the student to work at the internship site for a period of time without any long term commitment in order to see what it could take to be a part of the industry. Participating in an internship can often lead to a full time offer from the employer.

Students are encouraged to make an appointment to discuss their interest in doing an internship. The Career Center staff will help students prepare their resumes as well as provide information on internship sites.

Summer semester is a distinct term and all credits earned for this period are billed at the summer school rate ($434 per credit) plus a $30 comprehensive fee.

Students must complete a Learning Agreement form that can be downloaded from the Career Center’s Internship page and a Mount Summer Registration Form in order to receive academic credit for a Summer Internship

Dining Services
All resident students will use their Mount Card to access the Flex Meal Plan.
Commuters are welcome to pay with cash or credit cards.

The Mount hosts numerous youth, adult and continuing education groups throughout the summer. On any given day these groups can number from as few as 30 to nearly 1,000. Patriot Hall Cafeteria will be open when these large groups are on campus.Students are welcome to dine in Patriot Hall anytime it is open. In addition, to help you avoid the crowds, we will reserve the Mount Café for the use of our Mount employees and students on most days.

On certain days, Patriot Hall will operate like normal. Examples of this are during Freshman Orientation and portions of alumni weekend. For these meals, we will not open the Mount Café for efficiency reasons and because we will be able to provide more offerings in Patriot Hall.

In addition to normal meal hours, the Mount Café will be open during Wednesdays at the Fountain (8 to 10 PM most Wednesdays.)

Summer hours and weekly menus/specials will be posted shortly before the sessions begin.  For more information contact Dining Services at 301.447.5276, or email .

Parking on Campus
• Permits are required for all on-campus parking lots.
• Please do not park in fire lanes or reserved and handicapped spaces without an appropriate permit.
• Parking permits issued Public Safety offices during regular business hours. Temporary permits can be issued 24/7.
