God wants a relationship with you. Scripture is one of the best places to meet God, and praying with Scripture is one of the best ways to do so.
Mount St. Mary's University's Theology Department will host this Scripture Institute with Dr. David McCarthy facilitating. While familiarity with the basics of biblical scholarship will be helpful, this program is suitable for any interested adult.
During this Institute, you will learn how many of our favorite people in Scripture encountered God. You will learn about and experience Lectio Divina, Visio Divina, Audio Divina, Guided Imagery prayer, and other ways to pray with Scripture. You will have time for both communal and private prayer. Through this Institute, you will gain a deeper appreciation for the spiritual treasury that is the Word of God, and hopefully a keen sense of God's call in your life.
The beautiful mountainside campus of Mount St. Mary’s University provides a perfect backdrop for learning and renewal. Come with your burning questions and insights. We will provide plenty of our own, plus the best resources we can find to help you unlock the treasure of the beloved Scriptures.
Register as a commuter or spend the night in air-conditioned comfort at Mount St. Mary's Seminary. All meals will be held in the Mount's Patriot Dining Hall. Transportation will be provided for those who have walking issues. We hope you join us!
