Thinking Allowed: The Mount's Core Curriculum

The Mount's highly respected Core Curriculum will take you much further than typical "required courses." This four-year sequence ranging from the humanities and social sciences to math and natural sciences touches every part of your Mount education. The Core adds intellectual depth and breadth as you focus on your field of interest.

What you learn in the Core stays with you. Your voyage starts in an award-winning Freshman Seminar taught by your own academic advisor (you'll write more in a month than you did in a year of high school). Along the way, you'll connect with the great thinkers, scientists, philosophers and spiritual leaders who built the world as we know it. The end result? New ways of thinking about who you are, where you're going and what your role might be in the world.

Early History of the Core Curriculum

The Mount's Core Curriculum has been cited by the National Endowment for the Humanities as "one of three model programs in the country."
