David W. Bushman graduated summa cum laude in Biology from Loyola College in Maryland (1985) before earning his M.S. (1987) and his Ph.D. (1989) in Entomology from the University of Maryland.
After two years in private industry as a researcher, he served 13 years on the faculty and in administration at Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland. He has been published in the field of entomology as well as undergraduate science education. In 2004, Dr. Bushman was named Senior Vice president for Academic Affairs at Lees-McCrae College in North Carolina and later that year was named Interim President. In October 2005, Dr. Bushman became the 13th President of Lees-McCrae where he has been until accepting his new role as Dean of the School of Science. He returns to the Mount looking forward to renewing old friendships while charting a new course in academic excellence for the School of Science.
