Emmitsburg, Maryland – For the third straight year, Mount St. Mary’s University has earned a place as a top 25 “Best Regional University,” with its inclusion in the 2013 edition of Best Colleges 2013 by U.S. News & World Report.
Mount St. Mary’s University ranked 23rd among 133 institutions listed in the North region. The Mount also earned a U.S. News top 15 regional ranking in the “Great Schools at Great Prices” category.

U.S News rankings are based largely on undergraduate academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, assessments from peer institutions, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.
“This ranking is a testament to our exceptional and affordable Catholic, liberal arts education,” says Vice President of Enrollment Management, Michael Post. “We always advise parents and students to use these rankings as just one of the many tools when evaluating the true value of a particular college. Still, we are pleased to be within the top 25 for three years in a row, and to be listed as a Best Value institution for 2012.”
The exclusive list, which includes rankings of more than 1,600 schools nationwide, is available at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will also appear in the 2013 edition of the Best Colleges guidebook, available on newsstands September 18.
