Mount Professor Takes National Crossword Competition
Emmitsburg, Maryland - If you're stumped on a crossword puzzle, give the Mount’s Mathematics and Computer Science Professor Scott Weiss a call.
Professor Weiss recently won the National Brain Game Challenge- beating 800 other competitors in a national, online crossword puzzle contest.
Scott won the “Public” division of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s National Brain Game Challenge by finishing a multi-layered, word-twisting crossword in 55 minutes, just 3 minutes before his closest competitor.
“I’m hoping this competition results in helping lots of others who are dealing with Alzheimer’s," said Professor Weiss about his win.
The Challenge raised more than $20,000 for the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, as well as awareness about Alzheimer's disease and brain health.
Weiss is no stranger to games-he appeared on the TV show Jeopardy! in 2006 and was part of the show's only three-way tie.
Congratulations Professor Weiss!
