Nursing

Your career as a nurse will include much more than just patient care.

Your education should prepare you for all of it.

Education in Nursing at the Mount is built around a “dual-degree” model. We’ve partnered with both the University of Maryland School of Nursing and Shenandoah University (Winchester, VA) to create a pathway for you to achieve something that will set you apart. You’ll earn two undergraduate degrees in just five years: one in Biology from the Mount, and a second in Nursing from University of Maryland or Shenandoah. Our program is designed to prepare you for the constantly changing world of health care by combining the best of the Mount - a traditional degree in Biology and a strong foundation in the liberal arts through our Veritas Program - with specialized training in nursing through our partner institutions.

Your pathway to success begins with three years at the Mount as a biology major. You’ll get the hands-on experience—and laboratory time—other students at larger universities have to fight for. Successful completion of the prerequisite requirements here gains you access to one of our partner institutions for your final two years of study. You’ll earn two degrees and be competitive in ways that many other graduates can only dream about: Mount grads are known for their abilities in scientific research and inquiry and for their understanding of the ethical and moral issues that confront our society.

Find out more about the curriculum by visiting the Mount's nursing webpage through the Department of Science.
