Department of Science

Through a myriad of majors, minors and pre-professional programs we seek to develop in our students an understanding of the process of science, the promise and limitations of science, and the role of science as a creative force to be applied in an ethical manner to the problems facing humanity. We aim to provide our majors with a strong and broad foundation in the scientific principles and research techniques of their chosen disciplines and an understanding of the fundamental interrelatedness among the scientific disciplines.

To achieve these goals, we seek to engage our students in the classroom and laboratory through excellence and innovation in teaching. In addition, we encourage our students to continue their education outside of their classroom by pursuing internships and research experiences both on and off campus. The combination of classroom learning and real-world experiences in science provides a foundation of knowledge and skills preparing graduates for successful admission to graduate and professional programs and direct entry into their field.

Please feel free to contact the science department office if you have questions about any of our programs.
