Mount Math Madness is a student friendly competition meant to inspire students to challenge themselves with finding solutions to complex math problems. The layout of this competition can be explained as the following: The problems will be assigned point values of 100, 200, and 300 points. Students may submit complete and correct solutions to 1, 2, or 3 problems. Therefore, a student may be awarded 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, or 600 points each week depending on the number of solutions they submit. Students will accumulate points over the first 5 weeks of the contest and be ranked according to the number of points awarded. The top 8 students will face off in a bracket challenge. The bracket challenge will consist of 3 rounds of a single problem of the week. In the first round, students will be paired according to their rankings. The first student of each pair that responds with a correct solution will advance to the next round in the bracket. If both students submit an incorrect solution, then the student with the best attempt will advance in the bracket. Please note these problems are posted on Sundays at 7pm. This will eliminate any unfair advantage with Monday class schedules.
