This summer Sarah Bonson, C17 will be working with NIST (National Institute for Standards and Technology) in Boulder, CO. Bonson will be working under the mentorship of Nate Ofloff and on a project titled “Electromagnetic Response of Nanoparticles in Microfluidic Channels.”

Bonson explains, “The application involved a written application form, a resume, personal statement, transcript, and two letters of recommendation. The faculty at MSM were extremely supportive and helpful throughout the application process!”

She added, “I am looking forward to learning a lot this summer through NIST as well as living in a new area. There is a good possibility that I will be able to take the nanoparticles which I have synthesized here at MSM and characterize them at NIST this summer.” When asked about the opportunity overall Bonson replied, “I am very excited for this opportunity and am so blessed to have the support of the Mount community, especially the faculty here at MSM.”
