Criminal Justice
The department offers a new major in criminal justice in the Mount's traditional undergraduate program.
The program operates on three fundamental principles:
1. There can be no criminal justice without a commitment to the practices of social justice;
2. Critical and logical thinking, problem solving and clear and effective communication skills must be coupled with technical proficiency in order to have a well-run system of justice; and
3. A liberal arts education leads to a higher level of professionalism and a fuller and more meaningful personal life. As such, this program aims to educate the whole person.
Recent graduates of the Mount's Criminal Justice program have started exciting and rewarding careers, received promotions or gone on to law school. Mount alumni are working as criminal investigators, probation officers, judges, FBI agents, state troopers, and arson specialists, police officers, detectives, and many other positions in the federal government.
