Criminal Justice Degree Requirements


Criminal Justice Course Curriculum
The program requires completion of 14 criminal justice courses (42 credit hours). Of these, ten are required courses and four are elective courses. Ideally, students should complete all lower level (that is, 100- and 200-level) courses before starting the program.

Four 100- and 200-level courses are required
(typically taken at a community college or elsewhere and transferred in to MSM):
CJUST 100     Intro to Criminal Justice
CJUST 105     Law Enforcement
CJUST 200     Criminal Law
CJUST 205     Criminal Evidence and Procedure

Six 300- and 400-level courses are required
(and must be taken at MSM):
CJUST 300     Crime and Justice in America
CJUST 305     Technical/Report Writing
CJUST  310     Media Relations/Oral Communication
CJUST 315     Ethics in Criminal Justice
CJUST 400     Research Methods
CJUST 410     Statistics and Information Technology
