“Right from the beginning in your first year, you will engage in meaningful field experiences in nearby schools. These experiences continue all four years, culminating in a two-semester internship in one of the university’s Professional Development Schools.  Our small class sizes and close interpersonal relationships with an exemplary faculty make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience.”

On January 25, 2012, Dr. Kim Philip Hansen, Department of Sociology, gave a presentation about Gandhi's influence on Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement.  Dr. Hansen discussed the peaceful strategies that Gandhi developed within a Hindu and colonial framework and how easily King was able to adapt them to fit a Christian and democratic context.  During the presentation, Dr. Hansen showed clips from the 1982 Academy Award winning movie, Gandhi, in order to illustrate several of the basic principles of nonviolent action.
