Beyond the Classroom

When we say “real world experience,” we mean it. Through research and internships, Mount business students use what they learn in class to make a difference. For instance, one recent senior honors project was a cost/benefit analysis of building a new residence hall on campus and increasing the undergraduate student population to 1,500. Planning for a new hall is now underway. As for internships, regional and national employers such as Merrill Lynch, the FBI, Washington Sports & Entertainment and Walt Disney World regularly offer opportunities to Mount students. Many opportunities are available in the nearby Frederick business community, Maryland’s fastest growing area. And several Mount students have interned overseas.

In addition, develop your leadership skills and professional connections through several department-sponsored societies and clubs. All have active programs of outside speakers, career nights, social activities and service projects. Campus opportunities include

  • Delta Mu Delta national business honor society, Beta Pi Chapter
  • Accounting Club
  • Economics Society
  • Finance Club
  • Management Club
  • Marketing Club, an affiliate of the American Marketing Association
  • Sports Management Club
