MHA Admissions Requirements and Application

Admissions Requirements

Candidates for admission into the MHA program should have completed a baccalaureate degree from accredited institution and must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher or

  • Two full years of relevant working experience (Resume required) or

  •  500 minimum score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Provisional Admission

Applicants who have a baccalaureate degree but who do not meet the minimum grade point average or years of experience or GMAT who show promise as a graduate student may be awarded this status. It permits the student to earn up to nine Master of Health Administration graduate credits and gain regular admission upon earning a grade of B or better in each of the first three courses.

Prerequisite competence in accounting I and II, and microeconomics is required for courses MHA 505, Healthcare Accounting and Financial Management and MHA 506, Economics for Healthcare Managers. This requirement may be satisfied by documentation of undergraduate study, application of applied knowledge, or completion of mini courses (available through the Bolte School of Business) in these two disciplines.

Application Process

Applications for admission are accepted year-round and are reviewed on a rolling basis.  Please plan to apply no later than six weeks before the date you wish to begin classes.  Late applications are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Complete application for admission (available from the Bolte School of Business Office or online).  Please type or print neatly.

  • Attach current resume or brief statement, in essay form, describing your professional experience and career objectives.

  • Include application fee of $35 (non refundable); make checks payable to Mount St. Mary's University.

  • Request copies of official transcripts from all schools attended after high school.  Official copies should be sent directly to the Bolte School of Business Office.

  • If GMAT is required, submit copy of test scores.  Arrange to have official scores sent directly to the Bolte School of Business Office.
