MBA/Graduate Certificate Admissions Requirements and Application

Admissions Requirements

Candidates for admission into the MBA or Certificate programs should have a bachelor's degree and must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

  • 2.75 minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA or

  • 5 full years of relevant, professional business experience (résumé required) or

  • 500 minimum score of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).

Application Process

Applications for admission are accepted year-round and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please plan to apply no later than six weeks before the date you wish to begin classes. Late applications are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Complete application for admission (available from the MBA office or online.) Please type or print neatly.

  • Attach current résumé or brief statement, in essay form, describing your professional experience and career objectives.

  • Include application fee of $35 U.S. dollars (nonrefundable); make checks payable to Mount St. Mary's University.

  • Request copies of official transcripts from all schools attended after high school. Official copies should be sent directly to the MBA office (for your convenience, a transcript request form is available from the MBA office or on the transcript requests page).

  • If GMAT is required, submit copy of test scores. Arrange to have official scores sent directly to the MBA office.

  • Non-U.S. citizens - please refer to section on "International Students" on page 12 for additional requirements.

International Graduate Students

International students are welcome to apply to the MHA program at the Mount, but must maintain a full-time graduate course load. Although the MHA is a part-time program, international students are required to take a minimum of 9 credits in the fall and spring semesters, usually an additional an additional MBA course.

In addition to other requirements listed for admission to the MHA program, international students must also submit (upon acceptance):

  • Evidence of English language skills necessary for study at the graduate level. All non-US citizen applicants must achieve a score of 83 (web-based test) or 213 (computer-based) on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Please submit copies of scores with your application and have official results sent directly from the testing agency.

  • Certified copies in English translation from World Education Services ( of university/college, secondary-level courses and grades, state or national examination results, and the appropriate diploma or certificate received in secondary school for education completed outside the United States.

  • a copy of their passport (information page and visa page, if have one already)

  • an affidavit of financial support
