   Fr. James Donohue, C.R. joined the Mount in 1996 and teaches a wide range of courses, including Freshman Seminar, Christology, Sacraments, Gospels, Moral Theology, and pastoral courses such as Skills for Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Religious Education.  His professional work is primarily in sacramental and liturgical studies, focusing especially upon the liturgical rites for the sick, the dying, and the deceased.  Fr. Jim is well-published in this area and is a popular speaker at both the parish and diocesan level.  Coach of the Mount's Division III hockey team since 1996, Fr. Jim continues to play in Laurel, MD for an over-50 team called the "Aging Bulls!"

Sr. Mary Kate Birge, SSJ, PhD has her AB in Spanish, Latin and Secondary Education from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, MA, an MA in Classical Studies from Tufts University, an MA in Theology from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN, a PhD in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America, and is one paper away from another MA in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, NE.   Her research interests range among Pauline literature, Synoptic Gospels, Feminist Hermeneutics and Ignatian Spirituality.  Her most recent publication, a joint work with three other scholars entitled Genesis, Evolution and the Search for a Reasoned Faith, will be published in February 2011 by Anselm Academic.

David Cloutier — cloutier@msmary.edu

Areas of Interest:

Dr. Cloutier joined the Mount faculty in 2006, and teaches courses in moral theology, Catholic social ethics, and marriage and sexual ethics, as well as general theology courses. He is also directing a year-long seminar for tenure-track faculty across the University on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. He is the author of Love, Reason, and God’s Story: An Introduction to Catholic Sexual Ethics (2008), and editor of the collection Leaving and Coming Home: New Wineskins for Catholic Sexual Ethics (2010). He has also presented numerous conference papers, and published articles in journals, including “Working with the Grammar of Creation: Benedict XVI, Wendell Berry, and the Unity of the Catholic Moral Vision” forthcoming in Communio. He is currently at work on the moral problem of luxury, and is working toward a moral framework that combines Aristotelian/Thomist moral theory with the theological approach of the nouvelle theologie. When he is not working, he is rooting for his native (Cubs) and adopted (Twins) baseball teams, and also serves as a director at the Common Market, Frederick’s consumer food cooperative.

Areas of Interest:

Dr. Collinge joined the Mount faculty in 1980.  He now holds the Knott Professorship in Theology and a joint appointment to the Department of Philosophy.  He has research interests in Augustine, Catholic social teaching, and spirituality.  He is the author of Historical Dictionary of Catholicism (Scarecrow, 1997), of which a third edition is in progress.  Since 1996, he has chaired the Adams County (PA) Heritage Festival.

Areas of Interest:

Dr. McCarthy is the Fr. James M. Forker Professor of Catholic Social Teaching. He teaches and writes in the areas of social ethics, Catholic social teaching, and moral theology.  His most recent book is Sharing God's Good Company, which is forthcoming from Eerdmans Publishing.  His courses this year are Foundations of Theology, Moral Theology, and Catechism and Catholic Life.
