College of Liberal Arts
Do political discussions interest you? Are you curious about America and the world? Would you like to study with faculty who are noted experts on topics such as public opinion and the American presidency?
A major in political science will teach you to examine critical political issues at the local, national and international levels. Our majors gain strong analytical skills and the foundations they need to take their place in today’s global society. In addition to being a good choice for career success, the study of politics is an essential part of an education for life. Whether your interests are local or global, you will gain the background you need to start making a difference the minute you graduate.
The Department of Political Science houses both politcal science and international studies courses. Find out more about what we have to offer.
The department participates in the social studies/education major, which prepares students wishing to teach at the secondary level, grades 7-12. The certificates awarded to those who successfully complete the program are valid in all NASDTEC member states. Visit the education department's webpage for more information.
Many students choose to participate in study abroad experiences while majoring in political science or international studies.
Many of the department’s elective courses are cross-listed with other exciting programs, allowing students to add further minors in Environmental Studies, Gender Studies , Latin American Studies, Legal Studies and Non-Western Studies.
