College of Liberal Arts
Music
The Music program is one of three programs housed within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The program and all the curricular and co-curricular activities strive to:
- provide strong foundational training for students seeking to pursue a career or further study in music

- lead all students regardless of major, to the understanding that music is governed by the demands of a rigorous technical, intellectual, aesthetic, and spiritual process
- guide all students in the development of the ability to reflect critically and independently on the creative and aesthetic process and product
- provide a meaningful and excellent musical experience for all members of the Mount community
- serve the Mount community's academic, spiritual, and cultural needs
- impart upon the students and the community the understanding that we are all the stewards of a precious artistic and cultural legacy
