English Department

Professor Dave Wehner outlines five simple tips to improve your writing in this installment of our video series Mount Minutes.

What can you do with a degree in English?

Write your future. Our gifted faculty will help you develop your writing, speaking and analytical skills as they also nurture your imagination by exposing you to the greatest works in the English Language. You will gain a strong background in communication skills that can take you to the pressroom, the classroom, the courtroom or beyond.

From your first day here, you'll build on your knowledge of English literature and be introduced to world literatures, including unique and varied traditions such as the epic, the Catholic novel, African-American writing, and global fiction. You'll explore the language of human experience in its most profound expressions, deepening your insight into the world and its people while strengthening your ability to write and speak well.
