Mount St. Mary's University Wind Ensemble

Mount St. Mary's University Wind Ensemble

The University Wind Ensemble performs music in secular and sacred settings thorough the semester. Their repertoire includes new and classic works for wind ensemble as well as transcriptions of older music. The group is open to any wind and percussion player who wants to music making to be a part of their experience at the Mount. This group moonlights as the Mountaineers Pep Band which has the pleasure of supporting or Division I Men's and Women's basketball teams.

  • The ensembles usually meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 3.30-5 in Knott Auditorium.

  • The class is available for 1 or 2 credits.

DuBois Players / String Ensemble

The String Ensemble performs music ranging from ancient to modern in a variety of settings thorough the semester. Repertoire and performances are contingent on performing forces enrolled.

  • The ensemble meeting times are contingent on the schedules of the players and Dr. Carlson.

  • The class is available for 1 or 2 credits.

Lab Band

This semi-autonomous collective of musicians performs repertoire from popular, jazz, and avant-garde genres. Students interested in participating are formed into working flexible groups at the beginning of the semester. All non-rhythm section members must also participate in the Wind Ensemble. A radio show "lab" component allows student musicians to share their interests with each other and the Mount community.

  • The ensembles usually meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 3.30-5 in Knott Auditorium.

  • The class is available for 1 or 2 credits.
