Dr. Dolan is a Mount alum class of 1967. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
Following graduation he attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
He joined the U.S. Navy and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. stationed with the second Marine Division Fleet Marine Force Camp Lejeune NC.
After leaving the Navy he practiced General Dentistry for three years before beginning a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacia Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He was the appointed Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Director of Residency training and later Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Duke Medical Center and the Durham VA Hospital.
Dr. Dolan is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and has served as President of the North Carolina Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and State Delegate to the National Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Dolan has numerous publications, research projects, and presentations, both local and national, during his 25-year career as a Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon.
Dr. Dolan returned to his alma mater in August 2010 in order to initiate a Master of Health Administration Graduate program for working healthcare professionals. The program was launched one year later in August of 2011 registering 19 students. Since that time the program has more than 80 active students and graduated the first class in October 2013, and looking forward to graduating its second class in May 2014. During the October 2013 graduation ceremony Dr. Dolan was honored by President Powell by being awarded the President's Medal for his Leadership in the development of the program.
